Wallace "Buck" Huff

Wallace L. “Buck” Huff was born June 24, 1938, in Seattle Washington, to Wallace T. and Myrtabelle Huff. On March 24, 1967 Buck was united in marriage to Dolores A. Beste, and became the Dad to her 4 children and welcomed his youngest son a year later. The family lived briefly in Federal Way until moving to Westport WA in the early 70’s, where he worked most his life connected to the commercial fishing industry. He ran a boat lift at the Westport docks for Bar View Resort, owned and ran the Channel Cat and Ocean Knight, primarily fishing salmon, later he operated the Washington Crab Producers meal plant, until he retired in the mid-90’s. He moved to Moses Lake Washington in 2005 to be near his youngest son and his family and took a job at the Senior Center Thrift Store. No matter where Buck was, he always spent time in the outdoors. He loved fishing, hunting, and camping. Buck super loved going for a ride to observe wildlife out in the open or drive the beach to see what the ocean would wash up, he would happily drive for miles. When summer ocean fishing turned to winter river fishing, Buck could be found on John’s River trying to outsmart a steelhead. Hobbies included creating beautiful yards with roses, rhododendrons and fruit trees. He placed glass balls, assorted floats and other ocean treasures amongst his landscape. He also was a bird lover and fed quails in his Moses Lake yard. He tied fishing lures and proudly displayed them on his living room lamp. He hand crafted fishing poles from his chair. Buck was great at hosting a family crab feed, spending time with his family and sharing his joy of the outdoors. Buck was preceded in death by his wife, Dolores, his parents, sister Linda Huff, brother Larry Huff, sons Michael Ralph Beste and Raymond Hugh Beste. He is survived by his son Jim (Karen) of Moses Lake, Wa, daughter-in-law, Barbara Beste of Elma, Wa, daughter Barbara (Ted) Bergstrom of New Ulm, Mn, son Winn (Gayle) Beste of Elma, Wa, brother Glenn(Sandy) Huff of Yelm, Wa, sister-in-law, Diane Huff of Kent, Wa, his Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren. A private family gathering will be held at a later date. Take a moment to enjoy the beauty of the outdoors and think of Buck. It’s priceless.
