Nikki L. Penrose

On Tuesday, April 13, 2010, Nikki Lynn Penrose went to our Lord and Savior. Nikki was born in Spokane, Washington on November 17, 1955 to George and Carol White. She was the oldest of four children. Growing up as an ‘air force brat,’ Nikki moved around a lot. Except for one year in Mississippi, her early childhood and elementary school years were spent in Moses Lake. Her family then moved to Germany until her sophomore year when they returned to the states, landing in Alabama. Nikki returned to Moses Lake the summer of 1973 when she met her love and future husband, Dick Penrose. Nikki and Dick married in July of 1977. Nikki worked as a bookkeeper at Braco, Inc. and then Moses Lake Sheet Metal until 1978, choosing then to be a stay at home mom with their son, Rick. Two years later their daughter, Katrina, was born. Caring for her family, especially grandchildren, was her first priority in life. Her grandchildren knew her as ‘Lela’. Being a grandmother is a role in which she took great pride. She treasured her family and spending time with them doing various activities. Camping with Dick and their granddaughter, Ariana; attending the annual Pierpoint-Nutt family reunion; fishing on Lake Roosevelt; rooting for the Mariners and Seahawks; and traveling to Winnemucca with her mother-in-law, Jane, to visit Katrina and her family were some of the activities she enjoyed. Family and friends could expect Nikki to greet them with a hug. Her love, smile and seafood salad will be dearly missed. We will love our Lela always and forever. Survived by her husband Dick, her son Rick (Katie) Penrose of Moses Lake, her daughter Katrina (Andrew) Betes Winnemucca, NV, and grandchildren. Mother Carol ‘Dee’ White, sister Cindy (Don) Archer, brother Danny White all of Moses Lake and brother Rob (Liane) White of Spokane. Mother-in-law Jane Pierpoint of Moses Lake, brothers-in-law Bill (Nelda) Penrose of Vancouver, WA, Herb (Gina) Penrose of Walla Walla, WA, Randy (Gay) Penrose of Warden, and Kenny (Kori) Penrose of Birch Bay, WA and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her father George White. A celebration of life will be held at the Moses Lake Event Center (South Campus) 1475 Nelson Rd NE, Moses Lake on Saturday, April 17 at 1 PM. In lieu of flowers donations to Cancer Society are requested. Inurnment will be at Guarding Angels Cemetery columbarium.
