Marsha Kathryn Stoker

Marsha Kathryn Stoker was born June 25,1956 to John Robert and Maxine Stoker (Whitney) in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She passed away peacefully at her home February 19th. Marsha was a kind, witty and generous person who would give you the shirt off her back if you needed it. She volunteered many hours over several years to her community and in 1995 she saved The Royal City Community Days, now known as Royal City Summerfest, from ceasing to exist. She brought a whole new life to the community days festival by expanding the parade entries and bringing in Davis Amusement carnival rides. She started a Tree of Sharing for mentally handicapped children. She along with her sister Melody started The Maxine Stoker Memorial Scholarship Fund. She served as president of the Royal City Chamber and in 1995 participated in the groundbreaking for the new PUD service center in Royal City. Marsha attended Royal High School and graduated in 1974 and shortly after moved to Tucson, AZ where she attended ABC Trade school completing all the requirements for Electronic Technician and Durham Business College receiving a diploma in Architectural Drafting and Pima College. She met and married Mike Morse who brought lots of laughter to her life. They moved to Royal City but he, however, was drawn back to Tucson so they divorced and Marsha went on to own and operate The Royal Tavern from 1986 to 2004. She met her true soulmate Fred Myers and together they shared a lifetime filled with the anticipation of “going fishin”. Fred brought two sons to their relationship Dustin (Dusty) and Larry. Dusty chose to stay with his father and grew close to Marsha, so she referred to him as her son. She sold her business and began working as a property manager for the low-income housing in Royal City. She then managed the Royal Crest Apartments where she resigned from employment in January so she could retire and start a new chapter of her life. She had recently gained an interest in woodworking, and she loved designing and creating wooden plaques. Marsha is survived by her sister Melody (Earl) Huss, brothers John (Linda) Stoker, Duke (Charla) Stoker and Gene (Pat) Stoker, her son Dustin Myers, niece Kathryn Huss, and nephews Rob Huss, Bill Stoker and Kristopher Stoker. Marsha was preceded in death by her parents, her significant other, Fred, and nephew John R Stoker III. Marsha will be truly missed, and the world will seem a little bit dimmer without her.
