Marimae Ruth Warring

On March 2, 2021, Marimae Ruth Warring found peace and was reunited with her husband Carl N. Warring in heaven. Mary was born in 1947 to James O’Connor, a WWII veteran and Purple Heart recipient, and Lenore O’Connor (Larson). She could not have asked for more devoted parents. Mary was equally blessed by a close and loving relationship with her brother, James (Jimmy) O’Connor and sister, Kathleen (Katy) Sukalski, and their wonderful families. Mary lived a full life. She wore a number of hats and often more than just one. She was a college student, an employee, a supervisor, a union officer and a community volunteer. Most importantly, she was a devoted wife and loving mother. Mary worked hard, sometimes two jobs, to help her husband Carl complete his undergraduate studies and law school. She did this even as the young couple began their family. Mary chose to work evening and graveyard shifts with the telephone company to ensure she could be home with her children, Kathleen Laura Warring and Carl P. Warring, during the day. Mary left the workforce in the early 1980’s. While she focused her time on her family, she also gladly volunteered with several school activities, like debate and mock trial competitions, scouting and other community interests. Her engagement in the community continued for years and included involvement in the local Democratic party, Grant County Dispute Resolution Center, the fatherhood initiative, service as a guardian ad litem, and so much more. Mary’s greatest passion was people. She loved feeling connected to others. Maybe above all else, she loved the joy and wonder that children bring. Her grandchildren, Al Warring, Aidan Rath, Carl Rath and Ethan Warring were always on her mind. In her final years, her amazing neighbors on Beaumont Street, and individuals from the larger Moses Lake community (and beyond), made it possible for Mary to live out her life in her own home. Without the support of her neighbors and friends, she never would have been able to finish her time here on earth on her own terms. While the names of all these individuals are too many to mention, two people in particular must be recognized. J.R. and Ely Garcia dedicated extraordinary time, energy and love to Mary in her final years. Marimae’s family remains grateful to J.R. and Ely, along with all the neighbors and friends, who did what they could to add joy to Mary’s life.
