Barry A Moos

Barry A. Moos was a loyal and caring son, brother, husband, father and grandfather. He passed away on January 10, 2025, in the comfort of his home, surrounded by family. Barry was born in Dickinson, North Dakota on August 8, 1949. His family moved to Washington when he was young, and eventually settled in Moses Lake in the mid-1950’s. He was a talented athlete who loved playing sports throughout his life. He played baseball and basketball throughout high school, where he was an All-American first baseman on the Moses Lake Chiefs Baseball team. He graduated from Moses Lake High School in 1968 and went onto to attend the University of Idaho. Following college and throughout many years to come, Barry coached several baseball teams in Moses Lake, including some of his brothers’ and sons’ teams, and later was his grandsons’ biggest fan in the stands. Barry’s love of sports was more than just a hobby – it was a defining part of who he was. Whether playing, coaching, or simply watching the games, his enthusiasm for sports was contagious. His dedication to the game and its values – perseverance, accountability and integrity – left a lasting impression on all who knew him. Barry and Hollis (Holly) briefly dated in high school and later reunited and married in 1971. Together they went on to have three children – Braydon Jeffrey (B.J.), Kyle Matthew and Kendra Suzanne. Barry worked for the family real estate business, Bedford and Moos Real Estate, for several years, and moved on to be the Chief Appraiser for Grant County until his retirement in 2012. Although he had a full-time career, he always prioritized his children and never missed an important event. His greatest pride was watching his children grow up, become adults, and have families of their own. He spent his retirement being a devoted and involved grandfather, attending grandchildren’s events, including soccer, basketball, dance, rodeo, football, volleyball and baseball……continuing his love of sports from the sidelines. He is survived by his spouse of 53 years, Holly Moos; son BJ Moos, wife Shelly and granddaughter Jordan (Kennewick, Washington); son Kyle Moos, wife Jody and granddaughters Hannah and Bailey Jo (Melba, Idaho); daughter Kendra Moos, partner Justin Mann and grandsons Devin, Gavin, Dreyden, Dylan and Brayden (Moses Lake, Washington); and brother Tracy Moos, and his three children Kenny, Katy and Hunter (Spokane Valley, Washington). He is preceded in death by his parents, Ken (Kenny) and Phyllis Moos; older brother, Kayo Moos; and younger brother, Jeff Moos. Per Barry’s request, there will not be a funeral. A private memorial will be held at a later date, where he will reunite with his brother at one of their favorite childhood places. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a memorial contribution to Assured Hospice of Moses Lake, who was an invaluable help to him and the family during his final days. Our family could not have been more blessed than to have spent years with, and raised by, such a great influence of a man. Though Barry has left us, his strength remains an enduring inspiration and a legacy he has gifted us all. May we use this strength to guide us as we honor his life. Your spirit lives on, dad….
