Peter Christopher Meyer Jr

August 28, 1940 - November 1, 2021

PETER CHRISTOPHER MEYER, JR. Peter C. Meyer, Jr. was born August 28, 1940, to Peter and Emma Mae (Alberts) Meyer, on the family farm near Davis, SD, the second of five children. He grew up on this farm in Turner County and participated in Turner County Presbyterian Church, Davis, SD. He passed away November 1, 2021, at Samaritan Hospital in Moses Lake, WA. Peter attended Middleton District #23 School the first 8 years and then Hurley High School graduating in 1958. While he attended Yankton College, he worked in a bakery and learned the bakery trade. Peter worked as a baker for 37 years in numerous places including Mitchell, SD, Coralville, Iowa City, and Cedar Rapids, IA, Minneapolis, MN, Lacrosse, WI, and Three Forks, MT. Wheat Montana Bakery in Three Forks was fortunate to have Peter help them improve their products and was honored to break a Guinness World Record in 1995 for the fastest field to loaf product. After retiring from the bakery business, Peter became a piano technician for 22 years in the Moses Lake, WA, area after his move there in 1999. He was active in the First Baptist Church of Moses Lake. Throughout his life, music was very important to Peter. He enjoyed listening to various styles, singing and playing the guitar, as well as other stringed instruments. Among his other interests were bowling, piloting a small plane, photography, oil painting, and keeping in touch with family and friends at reunions and family gatherings. Peter is preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Joan. He is survived by a sister, Viola Eden, Liberty Lake, WA; two brothers, Robert (Florene) Meyer, Lennox, SD, and Stan (Sharon) Meyer, Moses Lake, WA; three nieces, Pam (Terry) Plimpton, Lennox, SD, Dawn (Dale) Froese, McPherson, KS, Faith (Steve) Penner, Windom, KS, one nephew, Reed Meyer, Moses Lake, WA; two great nieces, Ashley (Matt) Plucker and their two children, Lane and Kellie, Lennox, SD, and Hannah Froese, McPherson, KS; two great nephews, Caleb Froese, Phoenix, AZ, and Devin Penner, Windom, KS. A Celebration of Life will be December 9, 2021, 10:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church, Moses Lake, WA. Interment will be at a later date in Turner County Presbyterian Cemetery, Davis, SD. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Moses Lake, 724 W 4th Ave., Moses Lake, WA 98837; or Liberty Ministries, 55 SW 5th Ave., Suite 100, Meridian, ID 83642.
