Nieves M. Hernandez, Jr. March 5, 1959 to July 20, 2021 Nieves M. Hernandez, Jr., long time Moses Lake resident entered the gates of heaven on Tuesday, July 20, 2021. Holy Rosary & Visitation will be from 4pm – 6pm at Kayser’s Chapel of Memories on Monday, July 26, 2021. Funeral services will be at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Moses Lake, WA on Tuesday, July 27th at 1pm. Reception will follow at the Grange Hall #1151, 14724 Rd 3 SE, Moses Lake, WA 98837. Nieves was born March 5, 1959 in Lubbock Texas to Nieves T. Hernandez and Amelia M. Hernandez. He graduated from Moses Lake High School 1978 and then attended ITT Technical Institute and graduated as a computer engineer in 1989. After graduation he worked under contract with United States Postal Service then was hired at Hewlett Packard and later Key Tronics. His work took him as far as Malaysia and Singapore to train employees. In his early years he worked alongside our father as a trucker hauling potatoes, carrots and onions which took him to Idaho and Montana. He worked at El Oro feedlot, Quick Way Potato Processing Plant and Stop and Shop as a clerk and in the 70’s he stocked boxcars for U&I Sugar company. His work ethic was learned from our father and he worked in the fields. Nieves’ enjoyed riding his motorcycle to Sturgis with his friends and loved the mountains and wide-open spaces. He enjoyed going to the Casino, playing the lottery and was an avid Mariners and Seahawks fan. Despite the trials and tribulations, the family has endured the car accident of his brother in 1981 and the passing of our parents he maintained a level head and was quick to bring you a smile with a joke. He took his responsibility of family very seriously and was steadfast in taking care of his brother Reynaldo. As he approached the end of his life he brought us all together and reminded us to stay together no matter what life throws at us. Nieves is survived by his siblings Anjélica Hernández-Cordero (Bart), Mariaelena Moschner (Tom), Yolanda Hernandez, Reynaldo Hernandez, Rosalina Boggs (Alex) and Sally Hernandez. Seven nieces and nephews including one great niece, and three great nephews. A special thank you to the staff at Norco and Confluence Health in Moses Lake and Wenatchee for their loving care and support during his final days.
