Mary Guzman
April 28, 1932 - February 28, 2022
Mary Guzman, was called home by God on February 28th, 2022. She was 89 years old. Mary was born in Denver, Colorado in 1932 to Joe and Barbarita Barrios. In the mid 1940’s, as a family, they migrated to Toppenish, WA. Mary and Asencion Guzman were married in 1946 in Yakima County, WA. In 1960, the Guzman family made their home in Moses Lake, WA. Together they had 8 children, 29 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren. Mary is survived by Charlie (Celia) Guzman, Linda Roybal, Gloria Martinez (Mike) and Robert Guzman. Mary enjoyed being active. She worked for several years at El Papagayo’s Restaurant and Grocery Outlet. She loved to teach. Many remember Mary as their Sunday School Teacher at the former El Sendero de la Cruz where she was awarded Maestra del Año in 2000. Mary showed her love and gratitude through her delicious authentic Mexican dishes. Her enchiladas were a favorite amongst family and community. Mary was quick witted, funny, and smart. She was an avid collector and a dedicated journal writer. Her detailed journal collection spans approximately 70 years. Mary loved to entertain. She used to enjoy showing off the tricks and talents of her beloved dog, Mitzi. Mary enjoyed sports, especially the Denver Broncos and Seattle Mariners. Mary is well known for her love for God and her wonderful spirit. She loved her family very much. She was a prayer warrior for family and friends. Her faith and her strength empowered her to live life as a disciple of Jesus Christ. This allowed her to endure and overcome many life challenges throughout her time on Earth. Mary’s prayers will be forever be etched in our hearts. Mary is proceeded in death by her husband, Asencion Guzman, her parents, Joe and Barbarita Barriors, 9 siblings and her children George Guzman, Asencion Guzman Jr, Mike Guzman, and Annette White. Viewing is open to the public on Monday, March 7th from 12P-4P at Kayser’s Chapel. Funeral Services will be on Tuesday, March 8th beginning at 11A.
