John Allen Britt was a devoted man, loving father and grandfather, and friend to many. He passed away on May 30, 2017 after a courageous battle with cancer. John was the youngest son born on August 31, 1931 in Ogden, Illinois to Charles and Leola (Vandervort) Britt. He graduated from Ogden High School in 1950. John received a Bachelor Degree in Plant Science from the University of Illinois in 1954. He then joined the US Army for two years and was stationed in Virginia. John married Sandra Jean Truemper on January 5, 1957. Employment with Pfister’s Associated Growers moved John to Moses Lake. He continued working for various other seed companies before branching out on his own and incorporating Firstline Seeds in 1976, which he sold in 2002. John is survived by his 3 children: Sandy Dennis of Springfield, IL; Randy Britt (Shari) of San Jose, CA and Bonnie Britt (Steve Smith) of Tacoma; grandchildren Ryan Dennis, Brandon Dennis (Trista),Courtney Vogt, TJ Whitmer, Jason Dennis, Carson Britt, Kyle Britt, Cameron Britt; Great grandchildren Addison Vogt, Anderson Vogt, Evelyn Dennis, Charlee Cheeney, Carter Cheeney, Chesney Cheeney, Jade Dennis, Emersyn Dennis and sister Janet Skudlarek (Don). His beloved soulmate of 34 years – Joan Lawson, and her children Jim Rollins, Jay Rollins, Tami Sandusky, Mike Rollins, Lynn Wahl and grandchildren Ethan, Keva, Lena, Rocki, Natasha, Ryan, Blake, James, Leandra and Brooklyn. John was preceded in death by siblings Joyce Graham, Bob Britt, Frank Britt, Bill Britt. John and Joan enjoyed retirement at their summer home on Lake Roosevelt and wintering in Mesa, Arizona. John loved boating, fishing and enjoying nature. He played shuffleboard. “Work Hard – then play hard” was his motto. Burial Services will be held Friday, June 2, 2017 at Guarding Angel’s Cemetery, 2595 Road L NE, Moses Lake at 2:00 p.m. A celebration of life reception will immediately follow at Living Word Lutheran Church at 2609 W.
