Eva Meredith Reynolds
April 6, 1926 - January 1, 2021
Eva Meredith Reynolds passed away peacefully on January 1, 2021 in Moses Lake, WA. She was born on April 6, 1926 in Samson, AL to Columbus Mathew Meredith and Ella Edenfield Meredith. Eva lived in Alabama and Florida until leaving after her high school graduation to move to Tucson, AZ with her father. It was in Tucson she met Max Henry Reynolds. They married on June 23, 1956 in Luna, N.M. Eva had a great love for family and friends. One of her great joys in life was being with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends. She maintained life-long relationships with many nieces and nephews who kept in contact with her in her later years with phone calls and those calls were priceless to her. Once you were a member of her family, you were always family - nothing changed that. Family and friends knew she would celebrate with them in good times and she would be first in line to help when things were bad. Eva worked hard all of her life and didn’t like to be idle. She always looked for ways to be of service to those around her. If she saw a need she would quietly fill it, never saying anything to anyone. She loved sewing and in recent years and began quilting. She made many beautiful quilts which are valued by the friends and family who received them. Eva was an active and faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, serving in many callings. One of her favorite callings was doing extractions for temple work. She loved attending the temple and doing family history work throughout her many years. Eva kept up with changing times. She taught herself to use a computer and embraced technology as a way to stay in touch with and keep up with the lives of loved ones. She also loved to travel. She always kept a suitcase packed so she could be ready to leave at a moments notice. If she thought she was in danger of being left behind, she grabbed a toothbrush and usually beat you to the car. Even in her 90's she had no fear of getting on an airplane by herself to visit one of her children. Eva was very independent. She didn’t like to ask for help and it was that fiercely guarded independence that allowed her to live on her own until two months prior her death at 94 years old. Eva is survived by her children: Wayne (Jean) Reynolds of Goodyear, AZ; Diana (Eric) Zollinger of Menan, ID; Charlotte Reynolds of Colorado Springs, CO; Carl (Irina) Reynolds of Moses Lake, WA; Barbara (Bret) Calaway of St. George, UT; 21 grandchildren and 42 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, Mody Gilland of Morton, WA and Effie Allen of Sugarland TX. She was preceded in death by her husband, Max Reynolds and a daughter, Deborah Frederick. A small service will be held at Burnham Funeral Home in Eagar, AZ on January 8, 2021 at 12:00 noon, with internment in Luna, NM immediately following. A celebration of life is planned for June 2021 at the upper ranch she loved so much.
