December 21, 1930 - April 4, 2019
Ella Ione (Peterson) Redal, 88, of Moses Lake, Washington, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 4, 2019. Ella endured the difficulties brought on by a major stroke for almost nine years and was tenderly cared for by her family and many caregivers until she breathed her last. Born on December 21, 1930, in Dodgeville, Wisconsin, she was the youngest daughter of David and Anna (Johnsrud) Peterson who were Norwegian immigrant farmers. Ella had fourteen older siblings, all of whom predeceased her. Ella met Jerry Redal at Luther League and they married on Christmas Day in 1950, with Jerry’s father officiating. They chose that day because the church was beautifully decorated, and all the family was home. Ella’s primary joy in life was being a wife and mother. She was a stay-at-home mom until becoming a para-educator after her children were all in school. In 1978, Jerry and Ella purchased and operated Big Sun RV Park. Ella continued to operate it on her own for another four years after Jerry’s death in 1999. A resident of Moses Lake since 1961, Ella was a faithful and active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and served in a variety of roles. She enjoyed her regular trips to the Midwest to see family, traveling overseas in retirement, snowmobiling in the Cascades and was an avid fan of the Mariners and the Seahawks. Her greatest joy was cheering on the grandkids at all of their various sporting events and activities. Ella is survived by her six children: Laureen Breon of Arlington and children Erik, Benjamin (Faith) and Diana; Monte Redal (Jean) of Moses Lake and their children, Brandon (Erin), Tristan, Curran, Kiersten (David) Mercado, and Bryton; LuAnn Kinsey (Dennis) of West Seattle and their daughters Julie (Michael) Matte´ and Rachel. LeRae Redal (Joe Tolison) of Moses Lake and sons Brad Martinez (Leah Mauceri) and Jason Martinez (Christine Getz); Lynette Stime (Dan) of Modesto, California and children Toby (Brandy), AnJi (Brion) Mitchell, Joshua (Celia), and David; Lana Devney (Pat) of Moses Lake and sons, Glenn Steffler (Shamra) and Nathaniel (Callee Hess). Ella also enjoyed her many great grandkids and great-great grandkids. She is also survived by Jerry’s sister, Yvonne Hood, and nieces and nephews too numerous to mention. In addition to her husband, Jerry Redal, Ella was predeceased by her grandson, Austen Redal, her granddaughter, Sarah Steffler, and great-grandaughter, Ella Muongmany. The family would like to express our sincere gratitude to all at Faith Larkin; Marv, Amanda, Aida, Alyona, and Liliya. A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, April 10, at 1 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1014 S. A Street in Moses Lake. Ella’s family suggests any memorials be given in her name to the ILC Memorial Fund, in lieu of flowers.
