Elaine Porter
March 8, 1920 - September 7, 2018
Elaine Mae Porter, 98, long time Ephrata resident passed away on Friday, September 7, 2018 at Columbia Basin Hospital in Ephrata. Per Elaines's wishes, there will be no public service. Elaine was born on March 8, 1920 to Jack and Pearl Daling in a farm house in the middle of an orchard in Wenatchee, Washington. She married John Morgan Daling and they raised two daughters, Tamsel and Jeanne. For 28 years, Elaine managed the soda fountain in Ephrata Drug, where she hoped she was a good influence on the young girls she trained for their first job. As a master gardener, she truly enjoyed working in her garden. She also loved to spend time visiting with friends and family; she hosted the family reunion every year in her home. Elaine enjoyed the outdoors in places such as Douglas Creek, Rattle Snake Falls, Summer Falls, and anywhere that there were wildflowers and animals, but especially her prized garden. A busy woman, Elaine belonged to several service organizations including E.S.A. Beta Pi Chapter, Rebekah Lodge #223, Ephrata Eagles and Elks Lodges, Ephrata Garden Club, Red Cross blood drawings and she was a campfire leader. Survivors include her daughters Tamsel Porter and Jeanne Paynich; grandchildren Danielle Davis, Shelley Paynich, Noel Ryles, Hans Freyberg, Eric Freyberg, Ian Freyberg, and John Paynich; great-grandchildren John Davis, Keenan Freyberg, Marin Ryles, Tristan Ryles; and brother, John Daling. Preceding her in death were her parents; sisters Laurel Mende, Virginia Todd, and Fontelle Adams. Best advice from Elaine Porter: Live your life to the fullest, enjoy each day as it comes.
