Douglas Gorden Sr.

December 30, 1939 - April 27, 2022

Douglas Gorden Sr., 82, loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend passed away peacefully on April 27, 2022, at Mckay Healthcare & Rehabilitation Central in Soap Lake Washington. Douglas was born December 30, 1939, to Leroy and Jeanette Gorden in Portland, Arkansas. He was one of seven children. As a young man, Douglas traveled across the country working in agriculture. In the early 60s, he settled in Othello Washington and met the love of his life Helen Botley. On March 10, 1963, they married and moved to Moses Lake Washington making it their forever home. Together they had two children Douglas Jr and Leah. Douglas worked many different jobs and traveled the country. Douglas worked as a farmhand, and a railroad worker and also worked in local processing plants in the area. He also enjoyed hobby farming where he raised pigs and cows. His main career was working at Wanapum Dam for the PUD. He retired after 30 years of service. Douglas loved the Lord and became a deacon. He had a passion for working in the church and helping people; he was one of the founding members of Galilee missionary Baptist Church. He will be remembered for his love of Christ, caring heart, and his wisdom. Family was very important to Douglas. He enjoyed attending his children’s functions and volunteering whenever there was an opportunity. When his two grandchildren came along, Midori and Wayne, he became grandpa‘s daycare. He could always be seen with his rainbow suspenders taking his grandchildren to school and attending their activities. Douglas was survived by his wife, two children, and two grandchildren. Celebration of life will be held May 6, 2022, at Galilee Missionary Baptist Church with a viewing at 10 AM and service at 11 AM. There will also be a reception held at 2 PM at Moses Lake Christian alliance church.
