Donna Lynne Byker

August 4, 1949 - June 10, 2021

Donna Lynne Byker August 4, 1949 - June 10, 2021 Donna Lynne Byker, age 71, was born in San Francisco, CA, on August 4, 1949 to parents, Peter and Millie Ramirez. She grew up in San Jose, CA, and was the middle child of the family, with two sisters, Sherrie and Jeannie. At the age of three, Donna contracted polio, which would cause physical challenges for the remainder of her life. Donna was a career secretary, working for companies such as IBM, two different churches, and the Coot ATV company in Chico, CA, where she met her loving husband of 48 years, John Byker. John and Donna resided for many years in Durham, CA, where they raised two children, Wendy and John. The Bykers moved to Moses Lake, WA, in 1997, following a job change for John. Donna and John attended Grace Harvest Church for many years, where they built many meaningful friendships. Donna loved her family deeply, including her five grandchildren, children and their spouses, nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews. She had a very generous, giving spirit, and despite physical limitations, was always full of joy, with a huge smile and a hug for everyone. Donna had a strong faith in Jesus Christ as her Savior and trusted Him daily for all her needs. She was an inspiration to many for her faith, generosity, and joy that embodied who she was. On Thursday, June 10, 2021, Donna entered the presence of her Savior at 8:06 a.m. with her husband, John, and her sister, Jeannie, at her side, after a battle with cancer. Donna is preceded in death by her father, Peter Ramirez, 1925-2013, and her mother Mildred Ramirez, 1924-2015. Donna is survived by her husband, John Byker; her daughter, Wendy Laney and son-in-law, Matthew Laney, and granddaughters, Jenna, Jadyn, and Claire, of Moses Lake, WA; her son, John Byker and daughter-in-law, Makenzie, and grandsons, Levi and Dax, of Chico, CA; her sister, Sherrie Wood and brother-in-law, Bill Wood, of Vero Beach, FL; her sister, Jeannie Searing and brother-in-law, Grant Searing, of Moses Lake, WA; her niece, Lisa Weaver and her husband, Russ, and family, of Everett, WA; her niece, Ann-Marie Matzinger and her husband, Jake, and family, of Vero Beach, FL; and nephews Robert Chavez, of CA, and Jeremy Chavez and his wife, Ashley, and family, of Lake Stevens, WA. A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 25, 2021, at 4:00 p.m., at Grace Harvest Church in Moses Lake. A reception will follow. The family is requesting that instead of flowers, donations be made in Donna’s name to Assured Hospice, or the Columbia Basin Cancer Foundation. Both were an essential part of Donna’s care. Thank you to Kayser’s Chapel of Memories, Guardian Angels Cemetery, and Grace Harvest Church.
