Sylvia Frances “Fran” Chapman passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, April 2, 2012 at the age of 88 years old, surrounded by her loved ones. Viewing will be from noon to 5 p.m., Thursday, April 05, 2012 at Kayser’s Chapel and from 1:00 to 1:45 p.m. on Friday, April 6th at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Rose Street Chapel. Services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, April 6th at the Rose Street LDS Chapel. Interment will follow at Guarding Angels Cemetery, Moses Lake. Sylvia was born on June 24, 1923 in Emeral, WA to Clyde John Taylor, Sr. and Vera Grace (Myers)Taylor. She was the second born of eight children, Clyde John Jr., Sylvia Frances, William (Bill) Mylard, Pearl May, Peggy Marie, Edward (Bud) Lee, Fredrick (Fred) Raymond, and Louessa Joy. All of her brothers and sisters have preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband, J Lide Chapman, and her children Mark E. and wife Michelle Chapman, and Zonda Terries Chapman. Fran also had a special bond with her daughter-in-laws, Connie Spiess and Susan Bauer. She is also survived by her grandchildren Tonya Chapman, Chad Chapman, Colin Chapman, Jason Chapman, Casey Chapman, Ashley Chapman (May), Kyle Chapman, David Chapman and Mackenzie Chapman, and great grandchildren, Shai Sithar, Keaton Chapman, Michael Chapman, Jaida Chapman, Baylor May, Wesley May and Oliver Chapman. She was preceded in death by three children, Howard (Loy) Chapman, James (Jim) Chapman and J (Chappy) Chapman and one grandson, Shane Chapman. Sylvia was known by most as Fran. Fran was married to the love of her life, J Lide Chapman who has always been a kind and gentle man. Fran and J Lide were married at the old Presbyterian Church on December 17, 1949, recently celebrating 62 years of marriage. They were married by President Jorgenson, and later being sealed with their sons, Howard (Loy), James (Jim) and J Lide, Jr. in the Salt Lake Temple on January 4, 1953. Fran was well known in the community working for Jack Eng at Elmer’s Restaurant for 18 years, and later working for Paul Klueber at the Porterhouse Restaurant for over 15 years. Fran had an extensive interest in antique collecting and restoration. She also enjoyed cooking for large crowds, especially for her family on holidays. She also loved to cook for church gatherings and would always say “Boy could those Mormons eat.” She has always been active and involved in the L.D.S. Church, and teaching the young people was her favorite job. She also served as Drama Director. She planned the production for the outgoing ceremony of the Stake Presidency of President Baker, President Earl and President Stevens, under the direction of Bishop McDowell. Her family was the dearest thing to her. She has many wonderful memories of fishing and camping trips with her family over the years. In later years she and her husband had the pleasure of taking some of their children and grandchildren on an American and Church History tour back east, a trip that the family would cherish forever. While seeing a production on Broadway in New York City, the family expressed that they would long remember the trip. Her family and her faith were everything to her. “I leave you all for a short time with all of my blessings and love. My Thanks to each of you who made everything in my life special.”
