Sandie Devine

Sandie Jo Devine, 52, Moses Lake resident passed away Thursday, October 1, 2015 at Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane, her family at her side. Sandie was born in Portland, Oregon, on May 19, 1963, daughter of Ronald and Deborah Chapple. She was married to Kurt D. Devine and they have made their home in Moses Lake for many years. Sandie was the Director of Nutrition Services at Samaritan Hospital where she worked for almost 30 years. She had a love for Christ that she shared with the children of her Sunday school, Wednesday night classes and church family at the Moses Lake Presbyterian Church where she served alongside her husband Kurt as a Deacon for many years. Sandie graduated from Park Rapids High School in Minnesota then went on to attend school at North Dakota State University. She moved to Moses Lake in the 80’s to work for her family on their farm. There she met Kurt, the love of her life, and they started their family who still remains in Moses Lake until this day. Sandie battled stage IV breast cancer for 3 years. She started her battle with cancer in early 2012. She relied on her strong faith and the knowledge of her doctors to get her through this grueling time. Sandie never once wanted to give up. She always told her doctor that she was going to fight it however she needed to. Known for her kind heart for everyone around her, Sandie never spoke negative about anyone, was always remembered for her beautiful soul and infectious laughter. She had a smile that would light up any room and a servant’s heart for all those around her. Sandie could never say no to anyone. The life of the party at all family reunions and gatherings, Sandie loved to dance and would drag everyone out on the dance floor with her. You would find her leading the congo line. Sandie had a love for Gonzaga basketball and Las Vegas. She and Kurt would travel to Las Vegas to watch the Bulldogs play in the conference tournament. Between games she would partake in her favorite past time, slot machines. Sandie was the luckiest gambler around. She would spend time with her family up at the casino, teaching her daughters, mother, and step-father how to play her favorite games. Survivors include her husband, Kurt Devine; 3 daughters and 1 son-in-law, Tashauna Devine, Heather (Austin) Massart, and Cierra Devine; mother and stepfather, Debbie and Von Cunningham, and father, Ronald Chapple. Brothers Jamie (Doris) Miller, Scott (Jodi) Chapple, and Vince (Ladeana) Chapple. Viewing will be from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday, Oct. 9, 2015 at Kayser's Chapel. Memorial Service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 10, 2015 at Moses Lake Presbyterian Church, 1142 W. Ivy, followed by interment at Guarding Angels Cemetery, 2595 Road L NE, Moses Lake.
