Roger L. Fairbanks, DC

Dr. Roger LeRoy Fairbanks died peacefully in his Moses Lake home on May 5, 2011. Born on November 20, 1939 in Weiser, Idaho, Roger was the eldest of the nine children of LeRoy and Elvina Fairbanks. After graduating from Meridian High School in 1958 he served in the Army National Guard in Fort Ord, California, and then accepted a mission call from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Sacramento, California. He attended Boise Junior College, Brigham Young University, and then in 1966 graduated as a Doctor of Chiropractic from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa. July 1, 1965 Roger married Elizabeth Ann Fletcher in the Salt Lake Temple. In December of 1966 they established a chiropractic practice in Moses Lake and in 1972 built a new clinic on Beech Street. Dr. Fairbanks enjoyed serving his many patients for almost 45 years. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Roger served in many positions including scout master and bishop. He also served in the Columbia River Temple. Life held many interests for him. He had a gift for music and a special love for the violin as well as a beautiful deep bass voice. He could often be found working with skilled hands not only as a chiropractor but also creating in wood, leather and finding ways to fix almost anything. Above all else, Roger cherished his opportunity to be a father. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Ann, his six children, and 15 grandchildren: Vaughn and Lee Ann Fairbanks (Joshua, Dallin and Emma) of Moses Lake; Sheri and Blake Smith (Fletcher, Taylor, Sydney and Parker) of West Richland; Kent and Tiffany Fairbanks (Carson, Samantha, Cheyenne and Lacey) of Springville, Utah; Lisa and David Van Wagenen (Nathan, Carly, Malena and Amy) of Minden, Nevada; Tifini Fairbanks and Sara Fairbanks of Moses Lake. He is also survived by two brothers, Richard and Dale, and four sisters, Janet, Virginia, Rosie and Diane. He is preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Vina, two brothers, Kenneth and Wayne, and one grandchild, Kevin Van Wagenen. There will be a viewing on Monday, May 9, 2011 from noon to 7 p.m. at Kayser’s Chapel with family greeting friends from 5 to 7 p.m., and at the church from 9 to 9:45 a.m. on Tuesday, May 10th. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Nelson Road Chapel, 1849 E. Nelson Road. Interment will follow at Guarding Angels Cemetery, 2595 Road L N.E., Moses Lake.
