Luciano “Louie” Martinez | April 6, 1961 – June 11, 2023 Surrounded by the treasures of his life, his family, Luciano “Louie” R. Martinez (62) was called home and passed away peacefully on June 11, 2023. Louie was born in Homestead, Florida to Eliseo V. (Cheo) and Maria Dolores (Lola) Martinez and was a life-long resident of Moses Lake, Washington. Louie wore many hats; he was a husband, father, uncle, brother, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend to many throughout his life. Louie lived his life on his terms and his emotions on his sleeve. He loved hard, laughed hard, played hard, worked hard, and fought hard. His passions started first and foremost with his family; he is survived by his wife (Liz) of forty-one (41) years, his children Yvonne (Demetrius) Stamps, Molly Ann (Mariano) Martinez, and Louie Jr. (Leilani) Martinez, all of Moses Lake, Washington; his siblings Rosa Maria (Juan) Gonzalez of Moses Lake, Washington, Maria (Alex) Olivarez of Kennewick, Washington, Eliseo Jr. (Kathy) Martinez of Huntsville, Texas, and Cesar R. (AnaMaria) Martinez of Pasco, Washington. There was no doubt in anyone’s mind that Louie loved his children, but it was most obvious that he LOVED his grandchildren (Alexis, Lexani, Liliana, Aymrie, Eliseo, Angel, Mariana (Zoe) and Darrion. Louie was blessed this year with his first great-grandchild (Khali) and fell in love with her the moment he met her. Just as important to him were his nephews and nieces who looked after, checked-up, and enjoyed spending time with their Tio/Uncle Louie and Tia/Aunt Liz. Louie fought a steep mountain climb these past several years as the result of the long-term effects of cancer. There were MANY times that we thought we would lose Louie to this disease, but in Louie fashion, he refused to give up. He worked so hard to live his best life through all the joyful ups as well as the scary downs. Louie found joy in the most simple and pure moments; a good taco, a cold drink, fishing for the big-one that always got away, going to a grandchild’s sporting event or performance, spending time chatting with his family, watching his Miami Dolphins play football, and playing with his dogs. Louie believed in God with all his might and gave praise for the time he was still being granted to be with the people he loved and doing what he did best…. just being Louie! His laugh was contagious, and you were either laughing with him or laughing at him, but either way, you were laughing—and that gave him great joy. Those who knew Louie knew the man that would give his last taco, beer, and the shirt off his back to help his neighbor, friend, and family member—an example that he hoped his children and grandchildren would carry on. Though our hearts are broken, and we miss him dearly, we know that he is still living his best life waiting to reunite with his family someday. He’s just gone fishing—in Heaven. Louie is preceded in death by his father Eliseo V. (Cheo) and Maria Dolores (Lola) Martinez, and his infant son Baby Jesse. Viewing will be from 9 am to 4 pm on Monday, June 19, 2023, at Kayser’s Chapel and Crematory, 831 S. Pioneer Way, Moses Lake, Washington. A Rosary will be held at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, 200 N. Dale Rd., Moses Lake, Washington at 10 a.m. on June 21, 2023, with Catholic Mass to follow at 10:30 a.m. A reception will follow at the Fatima Center next door to Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church.
