Joseph Bennington Buck

Joseph “Joe” Bennington Buck, 72, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on November 13, 2024, in his home in Warden, WA, surrounded by his family due to complications following a previous stroke and infection. Joe was born on December 14, 1951, to Clarence “Joseph” Buck and Gretchen Claire Miller in Caldwell, ID. He was the oldest of seven children. His family moved to Othello when he was 5 years old. Joe started working on the family farm at a very young age, driving tractor, feeding animals, milking cows, and taking care of business. He excelled at football during his high school years. Joe was a cowboy; he loved roping and wrangling calves. Long trail rides, pack in and out camping, hunting, and fishing were his escape from the family farm. Joe married Sharon Renee Cox on July 14, 1981, in the Seattle Washington Temple. They settled in Warden, WA where they raised their five children. Joe was talented with anything mechanical and had a successful career as the shop foreman for large farms and as a mechanic at Simplot in Othello until retirement in 2017. With his talent and reputation, Joe quickly developed the nickname “Mr. Joe Fix It.” Joe loved being with his family more than anything. It was important to him that his children and grandchildren learn how to work hard, serve others, and treat everyone with respect. He was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and diligently served in many different capacities. You could always find Joe tinkering with his tools in his shop, and he never went without a toothpick in his mouth. He had a genuine smile and could strike up a conversation with anyone. Joe is survived by his wife, Sharon, his children Seth (CarolAnn) Buck of Rigby, ID, Ashley (Jeremy) Iverson of Ephrata, WA, Kylee (Cosme) Pruneda of La Vernia, TX, Chance (Jadee) Buck of Othello, WA, Haley (Matt) Wall of Warden, WA, 20 beloved grandchildren, and his siblings; Kari McDonald, Shelley Buck, Doug Buck, Mitchell Buck and Stan Buck. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother Chad Buck. Funeral services will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Warden, WA on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at 10 AM. Bring a tissue, toothpicks will be provided. The family will visit with friends on Friday, November 22, 2024, from 5:00-6:30 PM as well as Saturday before the funeral from 9:00-9:30 AM. Both will take place in the same building as the funeral. Interment will follow funeral services at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Warden, WA.
