Darlyne E. Staat

Darlyne E. Staat, devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away December 18, 2011 at Calloway Gardens after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s. She was 81. Darlyne is now reunited with her cherished husband, Norman, who passed away January 19, 2011. Darlyne was born November 5, 1930 to Catherine Halla Yager and Clifford Hans Yager in Croftan, Nebraska. She was the youngest of 4 children. The family moved to Turner, Oregon, where she graduated from Turner High school in 1947. She then attended school to become a telegraph operator in San Francisco and pursued a 30-year career with Western Union. Darlyne met the love of her life at Fort Lewis where Norman Staat was stationed. They soon moved to Chicago and were married on January 15, 1955. Eventually they moved to Moses Lake where they raised a family and lived for nearly 50 years. Darlyne was co-owner/operator of Staat’s Furniture in Moses Lake. She also worked for the Moses Lake School District and volunteered at the Calico Cat. She was able to work with children and assist others in need through these activities. Darlyne’s hobbies were reading, spending time with family and beating everyone at pickle ball. Darlyne is survived by her 5 children and their spouses. They are Felicia and Ned Annan of Spokane, Susan and Rich Lewis of Richland, Jean and Monte Redal of Moses Lake, Daniel and Renee Staat of Richland and Julie and Eric Larson of Issaquah. She is survived by grandchildren Tim and Sam Annan, Brandon, Tristan, Curran, Kiersten and Bryton Redal, Dustin and Megan Staat, Justin and Tyler Coulter, Kelsey, Cory and Mitchell Larson. She had two great-grandchildren, Lily Staat and Eli Redal. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Norman, her sister Marjorie Guenther, her brother Marvin Yager and grandson Austen Redal and infant son Thomas. Mass of Catholic burial was held December 21st at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Moses Lake and interment at Guarding Angels Cemetery.
