Ann Louise Ross

Ann (Schuller) Ross, eldest of four children of Frank and Shirley Schuller was called to her heavenly home on July 15, 2009. Her death was due to complications of her 15-year long and hard fought battle with metastatic breast cancer. Ann was born June 27, 1954 at Eglin AFB, Fort Walton Beach, Florida. By the time Ann was three years old, the family was living in Moses Lake. She attended schools in the MLSD & Othello SD, graduating from Othello HS in 1972. She moved to Yakima and began working for Standard Finance Company and then later Yakima Federal Savings and Loan. After a brief marriage in the Mid 70’s and a move to California with her husband, Richard Oakley, She returned to Moses Lake in 1977 where her son was born. She became a widow in 1980. Ann started employment with the Moses Lake Chamber of Commerce in 1978 and was very involved with community activities. She was a member of the Newcomers Club and was a member of the American Cancer Society as a board member. As secretary and chaperone for the Moses Lake Sister City organization she made trips to Japan in 1983 and 1984. She was a member of Soroptimist International of Moses Lake, Moses Lake Christian Women, Day chairman at Moses Lake Spring Festival and Captain of the Relay for life team. She was a member and Deacon at First Presbyterian Church in Moses Lake. In 1986 she married Richard Ross and they blended their two families. In 1990 she went to work at BBCC as a program assistant in the financial aid and counseling center. In October of 1994 she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Ann’s hobbies and interests included machine embroidery, sewing, quilting, boating, jewelry making and snorkeling. She embroidered quilt tops for the Angel Quilts Project for neo-natal nurseries and embroidered quilt squares for the Project 911 Quilt, using names of victims. She would want to be remembered for her creativity and sense of humor and all of the vacation bible school drama that she loved. In March of 1998 Richard and Ann sold their home and moved to Kailua Kona, Hawaii; a place they both loved and had visited many times in the past. Ann worked as a reservationist and copy editor at the Activity Connection. She and Richard returned to Moses Lake in 1999 as the cancer had returned and necessary treatment was not available on the island of Hawaii. She is survived by her husband of 23 years, Richard, son Brian Oakley and grand daughter Madison of Virginia; step daughter Colleen (Steve) Lindsey of Seattle and grand daughters Paige and Fiona; step daughter Michelle (Nick) Morgan of Kennewick and grand daughter BreAnna and grand son Jaymin. She is also survived by her mother Shirley Schuller; sister Sandi (Doug) Berg of Warden and brother Howard (Brenda) Schuller of Warden; brother Wade (Heather) Schuller of Moses Lake; nieces Nicole, Stacy, Casey, Kari, Jeannette and nephews David and Michel. She was preceded in death by her father Frank Schuller and a niece and nephew. A memorial service and celebration of life will be held at the First Presbyterian Church where Ann was a member, at 10:00 Am on July 24, 2009. Pastor Eric Frey and Paul Wagner will be officiating. Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in lieu of flowers
