Annabel "Ann" D. Keene

Annabel "Ann" Deobald Keene, 88, of Moses Lake Washington, passed away peacefully on June 7, 2012. Ann was born in Kendrick, Idaho on September 8, 1923 to Edwin Albert and Anna Becker Deobald. She grew up with four siblings and graduated from Kendrick High School in 1941. Ann attended the University of Idaho before marrying her hometown sweetheart Lewis B. "Tom" Keene on September 12, 1942. Tom and Ann lived in various locations as owner/operators of small businesses in Kendrick, Idaho, Joseph, Oregon, Prescott, Washington, Hooper, Washington and Kahlotus, Washington. Their last business was Keene's Market, Tom's Inn-Digestion and Tom's Place in Kahlotus, Washington, all well known for antiques and memorabilia. Tom and Ann raised two sons and three daughters. Ann was always there as Tom's quiet and faithful support. Family was all important to her. Her hard-working spirit and industrious manner led to many memorable family outings and times together with family and friends. She loved flowers and grew fantastic vegetable gardens. Ann was an excellent cook and was known for creating amazing meals. She was talented with crafts and excelled as a seamstress. After 52 years of marriage, Tom passed away in 1994. Ann spent the remainder of her life living in Moses Lake next to her daughter and son-in-law, Heidi and Karl Glaesemann and their family. Ann is survived by five children and their families: Rick Keene of College Place Washington, his children and their families, Cyndi and Chris Boquist and children Aimee, Ashleigh, and Connor; Tom and Stephanie Keene, Carsyn and Emma; Sophie Keene and Levi Keene; Claudia and Dick Herlein of Vancouver, Washington, their children, Peter Herlein and Michael Herlein; Tim Keene of Spokane, Washington, his children Amanda Smith and fiancé David Seybert and son Lincoln; and Jacob and Nikki Keene; Katie and Rick Smith of Kennewick, Washington and their daughter Annie and Andy Sawyer, and children Shanika and Hope; Heidi and Karl Glaesemann of Moses Lake, Washington and their children Alisha and Eric Toombs and son Canyon; Amber and Larry Dacy and daughter Annabelle; and Ashley Glaesemann with Jansen Quick. Ann enjoyed twelve grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers Charles and John Deobald of Kendrick Idaho. Ann was preceded in death by her husband Tom, her sister Arlene, and her brother Ted. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, June 14, 2012 at Kayser's Chapel of Memories, 831 S. Pioneer Way, Moses Lake, Washington with Pastor Paul Wagner officiating. Graveside services will follow at 3 p.m. at American Ridge Cemetery near Kendrick, Idaho. Memorials to Shriner's Hospital for Crippled Children, P.O. Box 2472, Spokane, Washington 99210-2472 are preferred. Arrangements are in care of Kayser's Chapel of Memories, Moses Lake, Washington.
