VIRGINIA IRENE GIESE, 93, longtime Moses Lake resident passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, February 1, 2019. She was preceded in death by infant twin daughters, parents, Fredrick & Anna Marie Horst, brother, Fredrick(Fritz) Lavern Horst, her husband, Manford and granddaughter, Niki Melvin. Funeral services will be held at Kayser’s Chapel of Memories at 10:00am on Friday, February 8, 2019, with viewing from 9:00-9:30am and Interment and graveside services at the Odessa Cemetery. A memorial luncheon will be held on Saturday, February 9, 2019 at 11:30am at the Fatima Center located at 200 N Dale, Moses Lake, WA. Arrangements are in care of Kayser’s Chapel of Memories, Moses Lake. Virginia was born on January 18, 1926 to the late Frederick & Anna Marie Horst in Puyallup, Washington. She livedwith her parents and brother in Puyallup before her family moved east of the mountains where they lived in several farming towns, Washtucna, Irby and Odessa, Washington. She attended high school in Odessa and graduated in 1944. She married Manford Laverne Giese on September 8, 1946 and they made their home in the Odessa area working for local ranchers. She and Manford enjoyed playing cards with their friends on Saturday nights. She and her family moved to Moses Lake in 1963 and bought their home on Rainier Road in Cascade Valley where she lived until her death. She was a homemakercaring for her family and growing a big garden each summer which lead to many hours canning the produce. She enjoyed taking care of the roses during the spring and summer months. She loved to read, doing word search puzzles, working on zig saw puzzles and spent many hours crocheting or knitting.She enjoyed visits with her neighbors for a cup of coffee and a doughnut or cookies. She loved chocolates, ice cream drizzled with syrup and candied popcorn. She was a kind and generous person, with a smile for everyone and she will be missed by dearly by her family and friends. Survivors include two daughters, Patty Melvin(Larry) of Meridian, Idaho, Nancy Leach (Charley) of Moses Lake and one son, Brian Giese (Nanette) of Moses Lake; seven grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
