Grace Morris

Grace Elizabeth Morris, 97, former long time Moses Lake resident, passed away Monday, September 28, 2015 at Cottage in the Meadow, a hospice facility, in Yakima, Washington. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm, Friday, October 2, 2015 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Rose Street Chapel in Moses Lake. Grace was born March 31, 1918 on a homestead out of Webb, Colorado, 5th child of Dr. Alfred W and Lora Alice (Pressley) Leonard. She grew up in Holly, Colorado, graduated from Holly High School, and married Orville G Morris on May 23, 1937 in the Holly Presbyterian Church. After she and Orville joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, they were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on September 12, 1944. They shared 68 years of married life before he passed away in 2005. Grace is survived by: her four daughters - Jean (Weston) Nielsen, Alice (Ruel) Hyer, Marian (Dean) Pendlebury, and Orva (Terry) Warnick: 16 grand children – Cynthia Hudson and Susan Stull; Chris, Lynn and John Hyer, Lora Wood, Jill Caldwell and Kathy Fowers; Neal and Paul Pendlebury, Kay Menzies, and Ann Cook; Carl, Peter, and Orville Warnick, and Heidi Rawlins; 54 great-grand children and 13 great-great-grandchildren. Grace lived a full and satisfying life with home, family and religion at its center. She was a gifted seamstress sewing for her daughters and others. In her later years she turned this sewing talent into crafting clothes for antique dolls she and Orville collected. A favorite activity she shared with her family was tent and trailer camping. Reading also provided many treasured hours. After Orville retired, they served as missionaries in the South Dakota, Rapid City Mission and then as ordinance workers in the Seattle Temple. One thing, among the many, family members will remember about Grace is her “bursting into song” about any situation they found themselves in. Grace left this life satisfied with her time on earth and looking forward to the continuation of her family associations.
